Grant Percy - Golf Professional
Grant was introduced to the game by his father when just 9 years old. He quickly took to the game and by aged 13 he had a 7 handicap. Now 30 odd years later golf has been Grant’s life.
From Junior golf into senior pennants, then a 3 year apprenticeship to obtain his PGA Qualifications. Grant has been around golf virtually his whole life.
Once qualified Grant then spent many years playing the local Australasian professional circuit, winning both in Australia and New Zealand. His New Zealand highlight was winning the Club Professional Championship in 1994 while attached to the Avondale Golf Club in Christchurch.
Grant has been at our Papakura Complex now, on and off for over 12 years. His love of teaching the game has brought him back again.
Quote from Grant. “I just love to see golfers improve their game, whether it’s a newcomer or a low handicapper”. “It gives me a buzz to see a novice who hits the ball along the ground start to get some height and distance to their shots. They start to think, Yes I can play this game after all.”
Grant has been a NZPGA Professional now for nearly 25 years and has lost count of the many lessons he has given and how many beginners he has introduced to this great game.
